The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, recently downplayed a report published by Center for International Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) declaring him the worst performing Governor in Nigeria.
The Governors Performance Index (GPI), published by the group, covers the first months of each governor’s tenure and gave Governor Umahi an abysmal a grade of 35%.
The report cited his failure to pay State workers as the primary reason for his poor ranking. CIAPS suggested that Governor Umahi, “should buckle down and clear all of the arrears of the outstanding salaries.”
According to online media reports, Governor Umahi announced today that he has sacked all the Permanent Secretaries in Ebonyi State.
In a press statement released on Monday, the Governor informed the Permanent Secretaries that they were “to complete all handover exercises in their respective ministries boards and agencies before the close of work on Monday, November 16th.
“All commissioners, heads of parastatals and agencies in the state, are to ensure total compliance to this directive.”
The only staff member not affected by this directive is Rose Nwokporo, a Clerk of the State House Assembly.
