He continued, "these are serious issues that need to be looked into by the relevant authorities. We have examined it and felt we need to expose these plans ahead of the election which we hope will elicit an appropriate response" by authorities.
A group supporting the Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson on Tuesday accused some State Governors and members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) of plotting to infiltrate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and recruit thugs with fake military and police uniforms to rig the December 5 governorship election in the State.
The Director of Media and Publicity for the group, Jonathan Obuebite, said preliminary investigations by them revealed that the APC has allegedly "sewn the fake police and military uniforms to be given to thugs during the elections."
He continued, "these are serious issues that need to be looked into by the relevant authorities. We have examined it and felt we need to expose these plans ahead of the election which we hope will elicit an appropriate response" by authorities.
On the involvement of the unidentified Northern State Governors in the alleged plot, Mr. Obuebite said “we have unearthed a dubious plan to compromise the INEC Bayelsa office and give authentic results sheets to APC leadership during the election which will then be used to rig the election."
"However, we can confirm that this plan has been rebuffed by INEC officials, hence we conclude that this was why the APC has been chorusing the lack of cooperation by INEC in the State," he stated.
