Up to nine persons may have been killed by a suicide bomber in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital today, according to accounts by residents and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

The attack occurred on Dikwa road, on the outskirts of an area known as Muna garage.
Baba Kura, a resident, told SaharaReporters: “We heard loud explosions near our area. We quickly went to the scene and we found nine people [and] a [motor] vehicle seriously damaged.''
A SEMA official told SaharaReporters under condition of anonymity that six bodies were recovered from the scene of the blast.
