Governor Shettima’s Special Adviser on Media, Isa Gusau, stated that the meeting was held at the Governor’s house in a closed door setting.  Governor Shettima informed the leaders of Civilian JTF that he would provide a N20 million bonus to them and pledged to provide them with better welfare packages as well as improved logistical support.

The Governor also praised the Civilian JTF for their sacrifice and paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the attempt to bring security to the State.

Governor Shettima directed the Ministry of Health to put a system in place that would guarantee free medical attention to all youth volunteers in all public hospitals in the State. He also ordered the supply of more patrol vehicles for the volunteers.

"We are all eternally indebted to you‎ and we thank you most sincerely for the sacrifices you have made for us to have peace in this part of the world. I want to assure you that once the dust settles down, once this madness is over, we have the herculean task of creating jobs and of engaging the multitude of youths who stood firm," Governor Shettima promised.

The Governor also commended President Buhari in his fight against Boko Haram and for his role towards restructuring the military.

"I have to pay a special tribute to President Muhammadu Buhari, he has shown the zeal, the courage, the passion, and the commitment to bring about peace in this part of the world. Our military men and women are now adequately armed and supported so that they carry out their task, they have so far recorded great successes notwithstanding the attacks carried out by the insurgents on soft targets. Insha Allah, Boko Haram will be over and very soon", he noted.

A founder of the JTF, Baba Lawan Jaafar, assured Governor Shettima that the members of the JTF would continue to support the military in its battle against the insurgency in Borno State.

He expressed his condolences to the governor for last Sunday's attack on Ali Dawari village located on the outskirts of Maiduguri.

"We have also changed our tactics and strategies. By the grace of God, we are going to resist their new tactics of inflicting havoc," Mr. Jaafar promised.

Earlier this week, within less than 48 hours, suspected Boko Haram attacks left at least 60 dead and 100 people wounded.
