According to Kano State APC Chairman Umar Doguwa, Mr. Kwankwaso exhibited “acts of indiscipline which should not be allowed to go unpunished.”
The former governor of Kano State, Senator Mohammed Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has denied accusations of misconduct by the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that the governor is splitting the party.
Mr. Kwankwaso visited Abdullahi Ganduje, his successor, in the town of Ganduje on Monday to offer condolences after the governor lost his mother. However, the Kano State APC accused the former governor of organizing a “violent rally” during his visit. According to Kano State APC Chairman Umar Doguwa, Mr. Kwankwaso exhibited “acts of indiscipline which should not be allowed to go unpunished.”
The “violent rally,” according to Mr. Doguwa, was organized in order to abuse the governor and President Buhari.
Speaking with reporters on Friday on behalf of the former governor, the immediate past commissioner of water resources, Dr. Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, said, "We call on the Kano State government to desist from dragging the name of President Muhammadu Buhari to cover for their administration’s obvious weakness.”
Dr. Dangwani pointed out that the condolence visit marked the first time the former governor visited Kano State since May 29, 2015, when he handed power over to Mr. Ganuje, in order to not interfere with his affairs.
Furthermore, according to Dr. Dangwani’s statement, a violent rally was already taking place when he arrived at Mr. Ganduje’s residence in Kano State. He said when Mr. Kwankwaso arrived in the town of Ganduje, he was "surprised at Ganduje town, that some local people brandished local weapons, disregarding the somber occasion. It is unfortunate that they could not be chided, thus we left them with their weapons at Ganduje.”
“It is therefore appalling and rather unfortunate that the good gesture of Senator Kwankwaso has been mischievously misinterpreted,” he said.
Dr. Dangwani added that the current governor should "strive to concentrate on facing the enormous challenges of governance so that he may also be revered and respected by the good people of Kano State.”
