The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Operations, Mr. Sotonye Wakama, told reporters  in Port Harcourt on Wednesday that the LGA boss was wanted following the discovery of arms in his residence.

Jackrich is a former militant leader,  who has embraced the Federal Government’s amnesty programme  before he was appointed the caretaker  chairman  of his local government area by Governor Nyesom Wike.

Jackrick’s mother was kidnapped  by unknown gunmen more than a week ago.

Wakama, who was posted to the state recently to supervise the security arrangements for Saturday’s   Senate, House of Representatives and  House of Assembly elections, lamented   the killings in the state.

The DIG said, “It is noteworthy to let you know that Asinton Jackrick, Ipalibo Jackson, Destiny Lawson and Godknows Cotterel were charged to court on March 4, 2016 on seven counts before the Magistrate’s  Court 14, Port Harcourt.

“It is pertinent to remind you that the suspects were arrested at Buguma in Asari-Tori on January 6, 2016 after a coordinated raid by the police, where an AK-47 rifle and other weapons were recovered from them.

“Others, including one Sobomabo Jackrick, are  wanted. All officers and men of the Rivers State Police Command have been put  on red alert, purposely to allay the fears of members of the public and to promptly nip in the bud any security breach.”

He recalled that one Anthony Ugoh was arrested in connection with the murder of the Ward 4 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Omoku, Franklin Obi, and two members of his family.

According to him, the police also  arrested two persons – Ndubuisi Tochi and Luke Okumebi – for their alleged involvement in the killing of Ofinjite Amachree and Godstime Ifuroiyala.
