Smart Adeyemi announced that he is defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) today during a press conference in Abuja, according to media reports. Mr. Adeyemi has represented Kogi State West Senatorial District in the 6th and 7th Senates.

Mr. Adeyemi stated that his reason for defection was because of his support of President Buhari’s willingness to develop all regions of Nigeria.
He also stated that other Senate members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defect with the APC and support President Buhari.
