APC To Conduct Ondo State Gubernatorial Primary Election On August 27

The party made the announcement in a statement signed by its National Organizing Secretary, Osita Izunaso, on Sunday.

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that it will hold the party's 2016 governorship primary election in Ondo State on August 27.

Mr. Izunaso said the announcement was in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act of 2010 (as amended) in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines and party guidelines.

"The primary election will hold Saturday, the 27th of August, 2016," he said in the statement obtained by SaharaReporters.

He said the governorship nomination forms would be sold at N5 million while intending aspirants are expected to pay N500,000 for expression of interest forms. Mr. Izunaso added that the forms would be free for female aspirants.

SaharaReporters observed in a timetable and schedule of activities of the party's primary that the sale of forms would commence at the party’s National Secretariat from Tuesday, July 19 to Friday, August 5, 2016.

It added that the last day for submission of completed forms is Monday, August 8, 2016 at the APC National Secretariat.

The APC noted that the screening of aspirants would be conducted in Abuja from Tuesday, July 9 to Friday, August 12, 2016.

The party further said that the election appeal would hold from Monday, August 29 to Thursday, September 1, 2016.
