Former RCCG Pastor Queries Church Over Unpaid Contract

Mr. Bayo Akinjiyan, a former pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has accused RCCG of nonpayment of a N2.1 million consultation fee for a project he was hired to do for the church, and refusal to acknowledge the receipt of a building forfeited to the church on account of his resignation from the church.

In a press conference held on Wednesday, 10th of August 2016, Mr. Akinjiyan said he had been a member of the church for over twenty-three years and has been contracted for different projects for the church. However, since his resignation, the church has failed to pay for the projects he did for Christ Redeemers College (CRC), a private secondary school operated by Christ the Redeemer’s Ministry. He added that the church has also refused to acknowledge the receipt of a building, valued at N15.5 Million, which he built at plot 15 Diligence Road, Redemption Camp Estate, Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Mr. Akinjiyan claimed that he had signed an agreement with the church, which stipulated that if for any reason, he leaves the church, the house will become the property of RCCG. This is on the principle that whoever owns the land, owns whatever is on it.
