Today is the day
The colonial masters
Handed us to the greedy masters

Today is the day
5 Shortly after today
We saw the reality of famine and starvation
We witnessed the impact of war and deprivation
Then we cried till our tears dried:
On Aburi we stand!
10 On Aburi we stand!
We sought the same colonial masters
To free us from the greedy masters
Today is the day
Shortly after to day
15 We saw the sea of blood
Flowing freely in our churches and homes
When bombs booms
We heard the cry of our sisters’ rest
In the Sambisa forest
20 Then we cried till our tears dried:
Bring back our girls!
Bring back our girls!
We sought the same colonial masters
To free us from the greedy masters
25 Today is 1st October
The day we got Freedom
From colonial masters
And serfdom
To greedy masters
30 In year nineteen hundred and sixty
In their servitude we’ve died to live
More than half a century we strive to thrive
Today is 1st October
A day to remember
35 Oh Greedy Masters!
Our souls’ slaughters
When shall we be freed?
From you authoritarians of your authoritarianisms
All our efforts are not abortive free.
40 From you vampires of your vampirisms
We pray thee, Oh colonial masters!
Free us from these greedy masters
