Remains Of Late Rivers State Police Commissioner Arrives Lagos From India

The arrival hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos was agog today as the remains of late Rivers State Police Commissioner, Francis Odesanya, arrived the country through the airport.

The body arrived the country around 5 pm aboard an Emirates aircraft from India after a stopover in Dubai. Odesanya died on January 31, 2017, at an Indian hospital where he was receiving treatment.

Odesanya's body was received by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, the Lagos Airport Police Commissioner, Mrs. Victory Menta and the consignee, Dr. Adegboyega Oke among several other dignitaries and family members.

Spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr. Alabi, confirmed told journalists that the remains of the deceased was later deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja immediately it was received at the airport.

The late Odesanya joined the Nigeria Police Force on Feb.2, 1986 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent.
He assumed office as the 37th Police Commissioner in Rivers state on July 28, 2016, taking over from Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo.
