February 18, 2017

The Nigeria police have released Audu Maikori, founder of Chocolate City, from detention, according to a tweet posted by the firm’s business development manager, Edward Ayide-Israel.

Mr. Ayide-Israel took to Twitter a short while ago to announce the release of Mr. Maikori from police detention. “Thanks everyone for #FreeAudu. He’s been released,” he tweeted. The post added, “Thanks everyone for your advocacy to #FreeAudu. He’s out now. God bless you. We owe the release of @Audu to the good work of his lawyer Barr. Mark Jacob and your unending calls to #FreeAudu. Great job guys.”

On February 17, 2017, the police arrested Mr. Maikori reportedly for making comments the Kaduna State government regarded as inciting.
