The blasts occurred at Muna Garage on the outskirts of Maiduguri in Jere Local Government Area at about 6:30 p.m., killing at least six worshippers and wounding at least 20.

At least six people were killed and 25 were wounded after suicide bombers attacked Maiduguri on Wednesday evening, eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters.

The blasts occurred at Muna Garage on the outskirts of Maiduguri in Jere Local Government Area at about 6:30 p.m., killing at least six worshippers and wounding at least 25.

A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Adam Tahir, said one of the bombers detonated himself near a mosque in Komburi village.

“It is sad that suicide bombers attacked worshippers at Muna Mosque in Komburi village. They killed at least six people and many were wounded,” Mr. Tahir told SaharaReporters by phone.

Another eyewitness said the death toll likely exceeds 10.

“From what I saw at the scenes, more than 10 people died and 30 others were evacuated to the hospital. There were four bombers who exploded simultaneously and they targeted us during Maghrib prayer,” the witness said.

The Muna Garage area has suffered several suicide bombings in recent times.
