UTME: Candidates Can Now Protest Their Admission Status, Jamb Registrar

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, on Tuesday revealed that candidates who feel they are treated fairly can now protest their admission status.  

According to him, “Every candidate is required to accept or reject his/her admission before the process is said to be completed. 

“Candidates can now protest their admission status should they feel they are not fairly treated.” 

He also said that off the 1,603,181 candidates that sat for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination only 414,696 candidates scored above 200. 

In a Policy meeting which took place in Gbongan, Osun State at the recently inaugurated Bola Babalakin Auditorium the JAMB boss said the figure shows 25.09 per cent. 

Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, and a host of heavy weights in the education sector. 

According to him, the new figure is lower than the previous years where 465,025 candidates (27.00 per cent) of the 1,606, 374 scored above 200. 

He said that 558, 673 candidates scored above 190, 739,490 scored above 180 while 956, 937 scored above 170 marks. 

The JAMB boss, however, said that 558, 673 candidates scored above 190; 739,490 above 180 and 956, 937 above 170 marks. 

However, Oloyede cautioned that the scores are in no way the cut-off marks as they are the minimum marks needed. 

Speaking at the event, Adamu urged authorities of higher institutions to work with JAMB to sanitise admission process in the country.
