The circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs Oluwakemi Busari, wife of Honourable Olayemi Busari, has made the family of the deceased accused the Olayemi of murder.

Oluwakemi died in the early morning of 30th of June, 2018, in their matrimonial house at Aerodrome, Samonda area of Oyo state.

Olayemi, who represented Egbada/Ona-Ara Constituency in the National Assembly between 2011 and 2015, was alleged to have used his wife for money ritual by the family of the late wife.

A member of the wife’s family asserted that the death of Oluwakemi is not natural as it is being claimed by the husband who posited that she died in her sleep.

It was gathered that bruises were seen on the remains of the wife with bloodstain on her clothes, which depicted a case of violence.

A source within the family said that the former House of Rep. member did not inform the family when his wife died and has begun burial arrangement before the family heard about the demise of the wife.

“I got the news that Kemi is dead but what was more shocking was that none of our family members knew when I called. More surprising is that when I got to honorable’s house, he was already making plans to bury her without the family even knowing that she is dead.”

It was also claimed that the honorable might have beaten late Oluwakemi to death, which is why he wanted to hurriedly bury her without the knowledge of the family.

On his part, Honorable Olayemi had maintained that his wife was healthy as at the last time he saw her. He added that he left the house for a meeting but when he came back and told the children to fetch their mother, they met her lifeless body in the room.

Questioning the former rep member claim, the wife’s family asked why he refused to either immediately take her to a hospital if her life could still be saved or call on friends and families for help.

The family of Oluwakemi had however written a petition to the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, demanding an investigation to the mysterious death of Oluwakemi.

In the petition signed by Martin Prosper Omobude and Ranti Omolara Adebayo of Human Rights Herald, the family expressed that the brusies on her body including head with fresh blood suggests that her death was more than natural.

Autopsy Result And Investigation By Police

The family of deceased insisted that an autopsy be done to reveal the real cause of the death of Oluwakemi.

A source revealed that when the body was taken to the hospital for autopsy, one of the doctors stated that the death is beyond normal because of the wounds.

However, after preliminary result of autopsy was released, it was said that Oluwakemi died of severe heart failure.

According to Dr. Abu Clement Okolo, he said that the autopsy did not reveal any form of violence.

“The cause of death is severe hypertensive heart disease, hypertensive heart failure and acute hypertensive.”

“As the blood pressure went up very high there would be secretion and fluid mixed with blood that can come from the lungs or the nose. Cirrhosis can cause the failure of the heart,” Dr. Abu said.

The doctor further told the family to wait for the comprehensive result of the autopsy, which will further reveal and clear the air on the death of the Oluwakemi.

However, when contacted to know how long it will take for the comprehensive result to be out, Dr. Abu said he has released the result of the autopsy to the Police.

The family however expressed dissatisfaction with Doctor Abu, who they claimed fooled them saying it would take weeks before the comprehensive result of the autopsy would be out.

It was gathered that the Police received the autopsy result without the knowledge of the late wife’s family to process the bail of Honorable Olayemi.

A police officer who was simply identified as Fatola was said to be at the centre of the connivance between the police and Dr. Abu.

“He tricked all members of the family saying the result will come in a matter of weeks. It is sad to know that the doctor could go behind our back to give the result of the autopsy to the police,” a source in the family said.

Efforts made to contact Fatola was not fruitful as he did not pick calls made to his mobile number.

Olayemi, who is aspiring for a set in the Senate in 2019 elections, has since been released.

The family are insisting to follow the matter through and unravel all the circumstances that led to the death of Oluwakem and ensure all those culpable face the wrath of the law.
