"So, you are in the right party and if anyone is pushing you out of PDP, it is better for such person to leave you alone, because we are going to form the next government at the federal level by 2019 in Jesus’ name," he said.
Clement Faboyede, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will win the 2019 presidential election "in Jesus' name".
He also lamented the state of governance in Ondo State, describing it as “harrowing”.
He spoke on Tuesday at the party secretariat in Akure, while issuing out an expression-of-interest form to Tokunbo Modupe, who was the campaign coordinator for former President Goodluck Jonathan in Ondo State during the 2015 election.
SaharaReporters reported that Modupe has also joined the queue of aspirants contesting the seat of the National Assembly in the state.
He expressed displeasure with the performance of the state government, saying: “The current situation in the state is harrowing. If you are a resident here and you have spent five years and you see what is currently happening now, then you will weep inside for Ondo state.
"In fact, there was a time some traditional rulers called me and said they noticed I don't feature in media reports again. However, I just told them they voted for the change they bargained for and collected N4,000 during the poll.
"I told them to let us continue to suffer the 'change' that they voted for together, because I don't have any wife that uses the mother and child hospital again. You can imagine how pregnant women carried placards a few months ago to protest against this goverment. It is the change the people voted for, and we have told them to enjoy their change until their eyes are open to see better.”
The embattled Ondo PDP Chairman also hinted that the elders and members of the party were strategising ahead of the 2019 presidential election, noting that the gale of defections had shown that the people want the PDP back in power come 2019.
"Let me tell you that with or without Ondo State, the PDP will win the election and we will occupy Aso rock in 2019. But it is better for all of us in Ondo State to be part of the victory and a new Nigeria that will see to taking back power from this government," he said.
