'Pressure Mounting' On Tambuwal To Run For President

“I have been receiving advice and encouragement from our leaders, peoples across the country and even from abroad to contest for presidency and this pressure has been mounting. It is not my making but the quantum of pressure from everywhere because of leadership gap in the country," Tambuwal stated.

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has revealed that he is under pressure to contest for the presidential elections in 2019.

Speaking when he addressed students, youths and residents, who paid him a visit on Wednesday, he stated that he had received advice from leaders within and outside the country to run for president.

"I have been receiving advice and encouragement from our leaders, peoples across the country and even from abroad to contest for presidency and this pressure has been mounting. It is not my making but the quantum of pressure from everywhere because of leadership gap in the country," he said.

Responding on behalf of the groups, Bashir Gorau, a youth leader, said: “We are tired of waiting; we want you to declare your position now.”

Tambuwal had defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014, and was successful in running for Governor of Sokoto State.

However, he returned to the PDP two weeks ago.
