Over 12 Million New Voters Registered, Says INEC

INEC also stated that 813,110 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by eligible voters.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it has registered 12,682,792 new voters in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

The Commission revealed this in its new data published on its website.

INEC also stated that 813,110 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by eligible voters.

It also released the figures of PVC replacement and transfer requests it has done during the course of the registration process.

The data breakdown is as follows: New Registration: 12,682,792; PVCs Collected: 813,110; Transfer Requests: 640,706; PVC Replacement Requests: 998,993.

For the newly registered voters, 6,850,558 are male and 5,832,234 are female.

As part of its preparation for the forthcoming elections, INEC presented a budget of N189.2 billion to the National Assembly.

The Commission, however, is yet to get funds for the conduct of the 2019 elections, as the executive and legislature arms of government are yet to agree on the figure proposed by INEC.
