Rotimi Akeredolu, Governor of Ondo State, has announced Thursday as a work-free day for civil servants in the state to take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Akeredolu, in a broadcast message aired on the state-owned broadcast station, Ondo State RadioVision Corporation (OSRC), said the purpose was allow workers who have not registered to do so before the August 31 deadline.
The governor added that it would also allow the government workers who have registered before, get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the expiration of the exercise.
He, however, asked the chairmen of all the 18 Local Government Areas of the state to "mobilise" the people from the grassroots to register for the exercise.
He said: "I also want to call on our traditional rulers and royal fathers to tell their people to come out en masse and let the people register for their PVC.
"It is their right. I also implore those who have attained the age of 18 and above but are yet to register to go out and use this last opportunity to so at their various local government areas.”
