For Defrauding 'Naked Osun Lawmaker' N38m, Court Remands Eight In Custody

According to the prosecutor, the accused conspired to defraud Owoeye of the sum of N38 million, under the pretences of organising a spiritual prayer for him to avert a revelation of death.

For defrauding Timothy Owoeye, Majority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, of N38 million, eight persons have been remanded in an Ilesa prison.

On Wednesday, an Osogbo High Court remanded the accused: Kazeem Agbabiaka, aged 40; Abdulrasheed Ojonla, aged 45; Femi Oyebode, aged 30; Babatunde Oluajo, aged 50; and Adebiyi Kehinde, aged 42.

Others are Oyebamiji Oyeniyi, aged 32; Ismaila Azeez, aged 45, and Awodunmola Kehinde, aged 44.

Olusegun Ayilara, the magistrate ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody until September 28.

ASP John Idoko, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offences between April and July in Oluajo area of Osogbo.

According to Idoko, the accused conspired to defraud Owoeye of the sum of N38 million, under the pretences of organising a spiritual prayer for him to avert a revelation of death. They were also said to have recorded a video clip showing the lawmaker naked and circulated it.

The offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the criminal code, Cap 34 Vol.11 laws of Osun, 2003.

The plea of the accused was not taken and the case was adjourned till September 28 for mention.
