Tajudeen Adefisoye, a youth aspirant seeking to represent Idanre/Ifedore Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has decried the "sorry state" of development in the communities that make up the constituency.

Adefisoye said the people of the constituency have been neglected over the years, as there was not much state and federal government presence in the various communities.

He spoke while addressing the people of the constituency, where he gave out scholarships to best 17 students of the community in Idanre/Ifedore that participated in the just-concluded summer lesson organised by his foundation.

The 35-year-old aspirant and founder of the Small Alhaji Youth Development Foundation noted that the scholarship programme, which included the payment of school fees, provision of textbooks and notebooks was to encourage the students in their academic endeavours.

Adefisoye, however, berated those who had the opportunity to represent the people, stating that they had not worked towards bringing real development to the area.

“The people of Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency have, over the years, been unlucky with government presence in their communities, as their political representatives have not justified the mandate bestowed on them by the constituents.

“Most of the roads leading to these communities are deplorable and are an eyesore — Jimgbe, Omi funfun Bajare, and Ala Goke in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State — yet abandoned by the government over the years, ignored by political sons and daughters of the land who are in government, chasing shadows instead of putting smiles on the faces of the poor by doing what they are duty-bound to do.

“Just like the saying, a man who has never felt what the masses are feeling may never be able to directly make impact in their lives, for only those who have walked in the shoes of despair will understand the feeling.

"I believe that together, we can reclaim our land and build a constituency of our dreams,” he said.

While vowing to change the narrative when given the mandate, Adefisoye explained that with energetic mind and commitment of a working society, adequate representation would be his utmost priority.

He said: “I have been to these villages and my heart weeps for this nation. My soul is burdened by the suffering and plight of an average commuter on these roads, especially in Idanre and Ifedore of Ondo State.

“I visited these people even in trenches to know their challenges so as to proffer solutions to them, although respect is not commanded and it can only be earned but I am desirous of a better future of the people."

He told the people to brace up for the change of guard in the constituency as the 2019 general election approaches, in order to embrace the dividends of democracy in the communities.
