The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has concluded its presidential primaries in all 105 wards of the state.

A total of 210,201 votes were recorded for President Muhammadu Buhari.

The primaries, which was declared peaceful and violence-free, were conducted in the 105 wards of the state, with leaders of the party moving to their various wards to cast their votes.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and the former Governor Timipre  Sylva, defied the rains and moved to their wards in Ekeremor and Brass Local Government Council to participate in the process, in which A4 voting option was adopted.

On Friday night, at the conclusion of the exercise, the national returning officer for the primaries in the state and the Minister, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, at the state party secretariat affirmed that the exercise was peaceful and done according to the laid down rules and regulation of the party.

He said: "I hereby certify that the total votes scored by President Muhammadu Buhari was 210,201. The result is authentic and legal as it met the rules and regulation that it must be done in all the units and wards of the state."

Lokpobiri called on party members to replicate the peaceful conduct recorded during the presidential primaries at the state and National Assembly primaries.

On Buhari's chances at the 2019 polls, he said: "It is already won by a wide margin. APC has already recorded 18 million membership across the country and more are joining. More persons are also joining because of the performance and credibility recognised by donor agencies. Before President Buhari took over, rice was being imported daily at  6 billion dollars but now, there is no need to import rice because we produce rice locally. In Bayelsa, Ogunboss produces and bags good rice.

"Before now, donor agencies had lost confidence in Nigeria, but with the credibility posture of President Buhari, the donor agencies have returned."

He also declared that the APC is set to win the majority seats at the state Assembly and the National Assembly, stating that "the people of Bayelsa are only waiting to cast their votes for the party. The APC is already coasting to victory in Bayelsa".

Earlier at Ekeremor, where Lokpobiri voted, he said the party leaders in the state adopted an option A4 election pattern, where registered members of the party will queue behind the aspirant of their choice to choose the party's flagbearer.

The state chairman of the party, Jothan Amos, expressed the determination of the state chapter of the APC to support Buhari's re-election bid.
