Sani Danladi Abubakar, former Acting Governor of Taraba State, who is now the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was on Thursday arraigned alongside two others before a Federal High Court of the Yola Division in Jalingo.

The trio were arraigned on criminal conspiracy and money laundering, amounting to N450 million. The two others are Senator Joel Ikenya, a former minister and Mark Useni, a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly and serving member representing (PDP) Takum II Constituency.

It was however bizarre to many onlookers that the court session went on with only two suspects, Mark Useni and Joel Ikenya (PDP member); as Sani Abubakar (the APC Governorship candidate) was conspicuously absent.

Ahmed Muntaka, Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), told curious reporters  that Sani could not be reached with the summons for the trial.

But sources within PDP claimed that the non-service of summons on Sani was a delibrate omission because he is the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, in thhe forthcoming Governorship Election in the State.

The case was adjourned till December 5, 2018, for mention.
