Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate President, has tasked Nigerians to come out in their large numbers to exercise their franchise in the ongoing presidential and National Assembly elections.

He gave the charge after he cast his vote at 10:12am at Ode Opoyibi in Polling Unit 005 in Agbaji area of Ajikopi Ward 002 in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The Senate President expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win the presidential election, noting that Nigerians are eager to cast their votes, despite the frustrations encountered during the postponement of the election.

Accompanied by his wife, Toyin, the Senate President was first mobbed by some of his supporters who chanted "Baba Olo'oye (big chief)”.

Speaking on the conduct of the elections, he said: "I thank Nigerians for coming out, and for those who have not come out to vote, they should please come out and exercise their franchise.

"INEC needs to ensure that the result sheets are intact, and available and also make sure they get it right even before the end of the day.

"Nigerians have shown that they want to participate and INEC has the responsibility to show Nigerians that they are ready to toe that path by conducting free and fair election.

"I thank Nigerians for coming out en masse to vote despite the frustration encountered last week and they have come out again.

"Let more Nigerians who are still sitting down at home come out and vote. Don't be scared. Come out and vote. It is your civil responsibility to exercise your franchise and also be part of history.”
