A young woman, Ife Yusuf was on Tuesday the 21st of May 2019 convicted at the Federal high court, Lagos for runing a sex trafficking ring.
Ife Yusuf was found guilty by the court after due hearing of the case.
According to reports, Ife, a single mother who claims her husband suddenly disappeared early this year, has been in the business of procuring young girls from Nigeria to Burkina Faso for prostitution for quite some time now until she finally met her Waterloo after one of her victims, one Olarewaju Toyosi successfully escaped.
We gathered Ife talk the young girl into this malicious act by cooking up stories of employing her as a sales girl to the extent of even taking her to a shop in Ikeja as proof without the consent of her family.
We gathered that the naive Toyosi and other girls found themselves in Cotonou and pleaded with Ife to return them to Lagos and she gave them her word only for them to again find themselves in Burkina Faso.
Ife, according to reports, effectively smuggles these girls into Burkina Faso by road and from Toyosi's record, it takes 24hours to make the entire trip, as they left Lagos on that fateful day at 5am in the morning and got to Burkina Faso at same hour the next day.
Toyosi's statement revealed that immediately they got to Burkina, Ife sold the girls out and she was handed over to one woman she calls her aunt who was giving her out to men for sex while the money paid was remitted to Ife.
According to Toyosi, she was practically forced to sleep with between 5-7men every night and when she realised Ife must have made enough money to even send her back to Nigeria, she pleaded to go back but her cry met with brick wall.
Toyosi began to plot her escape means untill she finally found her way back to Nigeria where the matter was reported to the police.
Ife Yusuf was then apprehended on the 17th of May 2019.
While delivering the judgement, Justice Ayokunle Faji informed the court that throughout the trial he monitored Ife but there was no form of expression revealing remorse towards the matter which only goes to proof that everything she did was deliberate.
The judge expressed his sympathy for the dehumanised young Toyosi as she could be any body's daughter as well as his bitterness towards Ife for having diabased human hood and using Toyosi as a sex slave.
Justice Faji then sentenced her to 10years imprisonment starting from the 17th of May 2019 when she was arrested as well as 6years each for 2 other count charges for which she was also found guilty to run concurrently.
The judge also slammed a N150,000 fine on count 12 and stipulated that Ife must compensate Toyosi for the money earned.
