The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had concluded investigations on Abdulrasheed Maina's alleged fraudulent actions while he chaired the country's pension task force and is set to arraign him at a federal high court in Abuja this week.

SaharaReporters had exclusively reported how the EFCC and Department of State Services arrested Maina through a joint operation on September 30 this year.

Maina’s son, Faisal, was arrested for attempting to shoot at the operatives of EFCC and DSS during his father’s arrest.

The EFCC had handed over Faisal to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

The anti-graft agency had on October 7, 2019, obtained a court order to detain Maina for 14 days before arraignment.

Sources told SaharaReporters that Maina and his son would be sued on different charges. [story_link align="left"]74724[/story_link]

While Maina will likely be tried for money laundering, Faisal would be facing charges of gun-running.

Top government officials had successfully shielded Maina from arrest and prosecution before his eventual arrest.
