Eleven Men Arrested In Jigawa For Allegedly Raping 12-year-old Girl

Spokesperson for the police in Jigawa, SP Abdu Jinjiri, who confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Sunday, explained that all 11 suspects have been arrested and confessed to the offence.

Police in Jigawa State have arrested 11 men for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

The incident was said to have occurred at Limawa quarters in Dutse Local Government Area of the state. 

Spokesperson for the police in Jigawa, SP Abdu Jinjiri, who confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Sunday, explained that all 11 suspects have been arrested and confessed to the offence.

Jinjiri said they were arrested on May 25 after the police in the area received a complaint that one Alhaji Zuwai, a 57-year-old man from Ma’ai Village under Dutse Local Government Area, was seen at Limawa Market trying to lure a 12-year-old girl of the same address to a hidden place to have intercourse with her.

He said the police arrested the suspect and in the course of interrogation, the girl mentioned 11 persons, who had raped her on different occasions.

The case is still under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse, the capital.
