Kaduna Abduction: Students Organise Protest, Urge Polytechnic Authority To Stop Academic Activities

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Thursday night invaded the campus, abducting an unspecified numbers of students and lecturers.

Students of the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Zaria, Kaduna State, have staged a protest urging the school authority to shut down the school, a source disclosed.

The source, who spoke with SaharaReporters on Friday morning, said the students are urging the school authority to shut down the institution for now to avoid another attack on innocent students of the school.

He stated that a student was killed while two others, who sustained injuries have been taken to a hospital far away from the campus.

According to the source, the number of students abducted is not yet ascertained, however, security operatives are heavily present at the institution's campus.

He said, “I am presently at Nuhu Bamalli Poly right now and students are protesting, asking the authority to stop all academic activities for now. They said the school must be closed.

“Security officers are already here. One person lost his life, two people are in the hosital and up till now, the number of persons abducted is not certain. The school has not disclosed the name of the hospital the injured persons were taken to.

“The Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, just left here now.”

The attack is the latest in a series of the abduction of students and pupils by bandits operating in the state.

Recently, there have been similar attacks on schools in Kaduna State with the abduction of students at the Federal College of Forestry and Mechanisation and Greenfield University.
