Adedoyin has been enjoying some privileges and spending his nights in special quarters inside the command before returning to the custody in the morning, a source in the family of the deceased disclosed this to the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).
The owner of Hilton Hotels and Resorts, Prince Rahmon Adedoyin who was arrested in connection with the death of a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Timothy Oludare has not slept in the cell of the headquarters of the Osun State Police Command.
Adedoyin has been enjoying some privileges and spending his nights in special quarters inside the command before returning to the custody in the morning, a source in the family of the deceased disclosed this to the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).
“We have it on good authority that Rahmon Adedoyin does not spend the night in police detention where he is supposed to be till the police conclude their investigation.
“He does not sleep in the cell. He spends the night at a special quarters inside the command and then returns to detention in the morning,” FIJ quoted the source as saying.
FIJ placed several calls to Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for Osun police, but they were not answered. A text message sent to her was also not responded to.
SaharaReporters reported yesterday (Sunday) that Timothy’s family through their counsel, Kayode Ajulo criticised the police for allowing Adedoyin to record a statement from supposed detention, portraying the police as being compromised.
“It is expected that the Police ought to have been very professional and discreet in ensuring that a thorough investigation is conducted, no matter how highly placed anyone could be!
“From the abysmal worldwide broadcast allegedly released by the suspect from police custody, now trending both in print and social media, what was supposed to have been a solemn declaration and recording of statement at the Police facility was transmogrified into a musical concert or show of comedy fest, advertisement and a maudlin plea of non-guilt and exoneration by the Suspect,” the family had said.
