Nigerian Man Kills Parents With Wooden Pestle, Injures Two Others

A 37-year-old man identified as Munkaila Ahmadu in Jigawa, northwest Nigeria has been arrested for allegedly killing his parents.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, the spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, in a statement made available to journalists in Dutse, the state capital, said Ahmadu killed his father and mother.

He also allegedly injured two others.

 

According to Shiisu, the suspect killed his parents with a wooden pestle but the reason behind his action has yet to be ascertained.

 

The police spokesperson identified the deceased persons as 70-year-old Ahmadu Muhammad and 60-year-old Ahamadu Hauwau.

Sixty-five-year-old Kailu Badugu and 60-year-old Hakalima Amadu were injured.

 

The police statement read, “Today, at 11:30 a.m., information received had it that one Munkaila Ahmadu of Zarada-Sabuwa village in Gagarawa LGA of Jigawa, used a wooden pestle and attacked the following persons:

 

“Ahmadu Muhammad, the village Head of Zarada-Sabuwa, Hauwa Ahmadu, Kailu Badugu and Hakalima Amadu, all of Zarada -Sabuwa village in Gagarawa LGA.”

 

Shiisu said a team of policemen took the victims to Gumel General Hospital where Ahmadu Muhammad and Hauwau Ahmadu were certified dead by a medical doctor, due to the injuries they sustained in the attack.

He said the other two victims were receiving treatment at the hospital, noting that that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased persons were the biological parents of the suspect.

 

The police spokesperson said the state police commissioner, Aliyu Tafida, has ordered that the matter should be further investigated following which the killer would be charged.
