Atiku during an interview with Voice Of America aired on Friday also said Nigeria fared better under the PDP than the APC.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has admitted that his party is corrupt, but noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress is more corrupt than the PDP.

Atiku during an interview with Voice Of America aired on Friday also said Nigeria fared better under the PDP than the APC.

The PDP was in government between 1999, when Nigeria returned to democracy after years of military rule and 2015.

Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC won the presidential election in 2015, ending the PDP’s 16-year grip on power.

“If you look at all the economic parameters, security, peace, prosperity Nigeria has fared far better under PDP than the APC.

“But we have come to realise that the APC is even more corrupt than PDP.

“I will remind them of the prosperity that we brought to the country between 1999 and 2007 and then also the poverty, insecurity and instability the APC has brought since they came into office,” he said.

He also said he’s not bothered by the popularity of Peter Obi, his former vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 election who is now the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

He added that only some youths in a few areas in the southeast are supporting Obi.

“No absolutely not, it doesn’t worry me because the demography of the youths varies from region to region and it is not in all regions of the country that the proponents of youths are moving towards Labour, maybe in some few areas in the southeast,” he said.
