Sources from the military who spoke under anonymity said on Monday that the troops fought gallantly to repel the ambush, gun duel but it led to the death of numerous terrorists and some men of the Nigerian Army.

The terrorists also burnt the three army’s armoured vehicles.

Residents of the attacked settlements claim that bandits from several camps in Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and Kaduna States gathered to assault Malele, Ruwan Tofa, Zaman Lafiya, and other nearby areas under Dansadau Emirate because the communities refused to engage the bandits in conversation.

Nuhu Dansadau, a resident of Dansadau said that as the resident obtained the information of the coming attacks, a distress call was made over to the security services who responded swiftly.

According to Mr Dansadau, the joint security forces that aided the locals pushed the terrorists to flee into the neighboring Mutumji community.
