Several officers of the paramilitary organisation, Man O’War Nigeria, have been injured and currently hospitalised, after they were brutalised by a Nigerian Army soldier at the

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Kubwa, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, SaharaReporters has gathered.

The 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream II NYSC 21-day orientation course commenced on November 30, 2022.

The soldier was identified as Private Abubakar Ibrahim who is serving at Garrison Mogadishu Barracks.

A source told SaharaReporters that the camp authorities and the army had been shielding the officer from disciplinary action.

“An argument occurred in the camp and before we know it, the soldier descended on the Man O’ War officials. He started beating them with belt and stick.

“They were really dehumanised by Private Abubakar Ibrahim serving at Garrison Mogadishu barrack. We are calling on Garrison commander immediately to swing into action by arresting the so-called soldier by name, Private Abubakar serving at Garrison, Mogadishu barracks.

“The army and the NYSC coordinator are trying to cover up everything but we won't take it lightly with them.”

In 2021, a female Nigerian soldier was seen in a trending video assaulting a female corps member in Cross River State, Nigeria’s South-south.

The corps member, Ifeyinwa Ezeiruaku, was seen in the 32-seconds clip, kneeling down, while the soldier, identified as Chika Anele, a lieutenant, kept scooping what looked like dirty water and then pouring it all over her.

The video ended with the soldier slapping her victim.

Reports said the soldier and the corps member had an argument before the incident.

The army had however condemned the incident and apologised for it.
