Nigeria’s Secret Police, DSS Arrests Alleged Masterminds Of Attacks On Imo Offices Of Electoral Commission, INEC

The electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently said it suffered 50 attacks in 15 states in four years, some of them in Imo.

The Department of State Security Service (DSS) in Imo State says it has arrested alleged kingpins behind the constant attacks on the offices of the electoral commission in different parts of the state.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri, the state capital on Wednesday, the Director of the DSS in the state, Wilcox Idaminabo, announced that the secret police arrested the kingpins behind the attack at the INEC headquarters in Owerri.

According to him, the DSS also dislodged the camp of the hoodlums at Orsu, which he described as their headquarters, The PUNCH reports.

He said the leader of the armed group in Orsu, identified as Mike Ahize, and another leader identified as Ejima were also arrested.

“We have continued to comb their camps and cells in Orsu, Njaba, Orlu and Okigwe, and our onslaught, especially at Njaba left to the arrest of one Ejima who has been threatening to burn down the state. I am happy to announce that just last night (Tuesday), we apprehended him, and he’s now in our custody.

 

“We also recovered a lot of arms, ammunition and charms from him,” Idaminabo said.
