Keyamo during an interview on Arise TV on Monday, which was monitored by SaharaReporters, said there is no evidence to back up the claims that Tinubu has health issues.

Festus Keyamo, spokesperson for the Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign has said there is no basis for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu to disclose his health status.

Keyamo during an interview on Arise TV on Monday, which was monitored by SaharaReporters, said there is no evidence to back up the claims that Tinubu has health issues.

He described it as a strategy by the opposition party to stick out a lie as truth.

He also said Tinubu has proved his fitness by attending meetings, rallies and consultations till the wee hours of the morning every day.

He said, “When you talk about health status, there must be a basis by which somebody will now say okay, I need to disclose my health status. There must be a basis but there’s no basis. Absolutely, there is no basis, if there’s a basis then perhaps, we will call for it.

“No matter how much they repeat it, the opposition and a section of the press, no matter how much they parrot it, the fact remains that there is no evidence to the contrary that my candidate has health issues.

“I have said it before that the strategy has been to repeat a lie a thousand times until the lie sticks out as the truth, but as I speak with you in the last few weeks Asiwaju Bola Ahmed has been more active on the campaign trail than any other candidate.

“He has been going round day to day, hour to hour, from place to place having several meetings and after all of the rallies, he continues consultations till the wee hours of the morning so how else can one prove his fitness other than that?”

Speaking further, he recalled that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi have also had slips of the tongue, saying it can be caused by tiredness from campaigning.

“I have not seen anything happen to my candidate that has not happened to any other candidate; slip of tongue here and there. It has happened to Atiku, Obi, it has happened to running mates, spokespersons, the PDP spokesperson and their candidate have asked Nigerians to vote for APC even far more than the APC has asked Nigerians to vote for APC.

“They are always campaigning for APC in the slip of tongue so what has happened to my candidate? Has he fainted, collapsed, has he missed his steps climbing stairways, what has happened to him? Nothing has happened to him.

“You talk about slip of tongue and all that Atiku just said in Kogi two days ago that Nigerians should vote for APC, Peter Obi went to Nasarawa state, he was calling Nasarawa a country and so many other things like that. In terms of the tiredness of the campaign train, all candidates whether they are young or old candidate when you go from place to place every day once, in a while you will make little gaffes here and there, little slip of tongue. It happens even in the most civilized world.”

Keyamo also argued that Tinubu was not rushed off stage during his party’s campaign in Minna as he went to inaugurate projects in the city after the campaign the same day.

He added that only the presidential candidate of the APC has a clear path to victory in the forthcoming election.

Many Nigerians have questioned Tinubu’s fitness to lead the country following videos showing the presidential candidate with shaky hands and wetness on his attire suggesting he might be suffering from incontinence.

His gaffes while speaking at campaign rallies have heightened calls in some quarters for him to quit the race.
