African Action Congress Suspends Executives In Rivers State For Endorsing Wike's Candidate, Fubara

The development comes after the state Chairman of the party, Dr. Chukwunenye N. Kocha was listed among those when endorsed Sim Fubara, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The African Action Congress (AAC) has suspended the executive council of its Rivers State chapter over alleged anti-party activities and corruption.

Ina Okopi Agu, the National Secretary of the AAC in a statement said the dissolution was with immediate effect.

The development comes after the state Chairman of the party, Dr. Chukwunenye N. Kocha was listed among those when endorsed Sim Fubara, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The statement read, “Following the endorsement of the PDP Gubernatorial candidate of Rivers State by the State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) vide a communique issued on the 8Th of March, 2023 wherein the State Chairman of the Party Dr. Chukwunenye N. Kocha was listed as one of the signatories, an act which contravenes Section 80 (2b) of the Party’s Constitution (2018), and the subsequent fact-finding virtual meeting of the 11th of March, 2023 which was at the instance of the National Working Committee, to determine the level of complicity of the State Chairman in the said endorsement by IPAC and after careful consideration of the facts and information available to it have reasonable grounds to conclude that the State Chairman was complicit.

“Consequently, relying on Section 49 (iii), and Section 52 (iiL) of the constitution of the Party (2018), the National Working Committee hereby suspends the State Executive Committee of the party indefinitely.

“This suspension is with IMMEDIATE EFFECT. As a result, the National Working Committee hereby appoints the following individuals to a STEERING COMMITTEE to administer the State Chapter pending further directive from the central leadership. 1. KEN HENSHAW (CHAIRMAN) 2. ENEFAAGEORGEWILL (SECRETARY) 3. BARR.TONYESIPPOTO-PEPPLE (MEMBER) 4. OSHIOKUE PHILIP (LIASON TO THE NWC).

“The Steering Committee shall function for a duration of three (3) weeks, with the possibility of term extension which shall be subject to the decision of the National Working Committee.”
