Oba Of Benin Visits President Tinubu In Aso Rock After Missing Out On Joint Traditional Rulers' Meeting
July 14, 2023

The Oba of Benin in Edo State, Oba Ewuare II on Friday visited President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja.

This was confirmed by State House correspondents who captured the moment the monarch was seen, entering into the villa to meet the president.

This was the first time Oba Ewuare II would be visiting Tinibu since his inauguration on May 29, 2023, because the king was not among other traditional rulers that had previously met with the president through the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN).

In June, Tinubu had met with traditional rulers and their representatives from across the country at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

The meeting was part of a series of engagements the President has been having with key stakeholders across the executive, legislative, business and traditional institutions since he assumed office on May 29.

At the closed-door meeting, Tinubu had discussed themes around national healing and unity; as he emphasised in his inaugural speech.

In his opening remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III, who led his counterparts to the meeting, had said the traditional rulers visited the President to congratulate him and to assure him of their support in his arduous task of nation-building.
