Nigerian Army Claims Troops Rescued 25 Boko Haram Captives, Reunited Four Kidnap Victims With Families

The rescued Boko Haram captives included six women and eight children.

 

The Nigerian Army has said that its troops of 144 Battalion rescued 25 captives held by the Boko Haram terrorists.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, who made this known in a statement on Monday said that the troops in conjunction with Hybrid Force, rescued 14 hostages in a clearance operation at Gobara village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno state on Saturday.

He added that the rescued Boko Haram captives included six women and eight children.

Similarly, troops of 82 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with Hybrid Force, on Sunday raided Boko Haram terrorists’ enclave in Gava Village in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State and rescued 11 civilians, adding that all the rescued victims were presently in troops' custody undergoing profiling.

The army spokesperson further stated that in a separate operation on Sunday, seven members of a Boko Haram terrorists’ family surrendered to troops of 81 Division Task Force Battalion in the Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The family comprised three adults and four children.

Also, in an anti-banditry operation on Sunday in Kaduna State, troops of 2 Battalion of Nigerian Army, acting on actionable information killed one criminal and freed four kidnap victims in Kwana Shehu Village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. 

He said that the rescued victims had since been reunited with their families.

"Members of the public are please enjoined to support the troops with credible information to enhance ongoing operations across the country."
