Nigerian Court Grants Bail To Traditional Religion Practitioner, Iya Osun Abebi, Remanded For Allegedly Defaming Kwara Islamic Clerics

The traditional religion practitioner was released from a correctional facility in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

A magistrate court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara state, on Tuesday released Madam Efunsetan Abebi Aniwura, aka Iya Osun, on bail.

This was disclosed by the convener of #RevolutionNow and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore via a post on his Facebook page.

Sowore wrote: “#Freetaniolohun. Iya Osun granted bail in Ilorin, Kwara State. Two sureties with N200,000 affidavit of means. Keep them on their toes for the sake of justice.”

Madam Abebi is a top member of the Kwara State Association of Traditional Religion. The order of her remand was made by the Magistrate court earlier this month.

She was arrested and remanded over allegations of alleged defamation made by one Sheikh Abdulsalam Okutagidi along with some Muslim faithful in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
