The 15 commissioner-nominees were confirmed after the Chief Whip and Chairman of the screening committee, Mojeed Fatai, laid a report of the exercise before the House during plenary.

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday cleared 15 of the remaining 18 commissioner-nominees sent by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while it rejected the nomination of two former Commissioners, Lere Odusote and Sam Egube, and stepped down Tolani Sule-Akibu’s confirmation.

The 15 commissioner-nominees were confirmed after the Chief Whip and Chairman of the screening committee, Mojeed Fatai, laid a report of the exercise before the House during plenary.

Governor Sanwo-Olu had on Monday sent a second list containing the names of 18 commissioner-nominees to the house of assembly for confirmation.

The speaker of the house, Mudashiru Obasa, had charged the committee that handled the first list to take responsibility for reviewing the new nominees, and gave the committee till September 9 as the deadline to report back to the house.

Recall that on August 23, the Lagos State House of Assembly refused to confirm 17 nominees on the first list of 39 nominees forwarded by the governor.

Egube was one of the 17 nominees, including Gbenga Omotosho, former commissioner for information, and Akin Abayomi, ex-commissioner for health on the first list who were not confirmed by the house.
