SaharaReporters reported that Igwe Chidiebere Emmanuel Mbah was shot and killed on December 26, 2020, by the trigger-happy police officer while he was addressing an annual general meeting of the community.

Mr Ejike Mbah, younger brother of the late traditional ruler of Oruku Community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Igwe Chidiebere Emmanuel Mbah, who was gruesomely killed by one Inspector Daniel Denis has petitioned the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, to intervene and ensure the prosecution of the cops and his collaborators.

SaharaReporters reported that Igwe Chidiebere Emmanuel Mbah was shot and killed on December 26, 2020, by the trigger-happy police officer while he was addressing an annual general meeting of the community.

SaharaReporters reported on Friday, that the police arrested one Chief Moses Nnamani, a native of the community who was alleged to have brought the policemen from Special Tactical Squad (STS) on frivolous allegations against the monarch and paid the said killer Inspector N80,000 to eliminate the traditional ruler.

Regrettably, Ejike Mbah lamented that the police since December 26, 2020, till date had shielded the killer cop from prosecution despite the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) having concluded their investigation in 2021.

The petition dated August 29, 2023, signed by Efekemaraye G Daniel Esq on behalf of Ejike Mbah was titled: "A Letter Of Appeal For Your Intervention In A Case Of Murder Of Hrh Igwe Chidiebere Mbah The Igwe Of Oruku Autonomous Community In Nkanu East Local Government Area Of Enugu State Of Nigeria By Inspector Denis Daniel Of Sts Unit Of The Nigeria Police Since On The 26th Day Of December 2020".

In the petition copied to Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and other principal officers of the Force connected to the case, Ejike appealed to the attorney general for intervention to ensure that justice is served in the case. He stated that his community has not found peace since the incident following the vacuum the killing of his has created.

The petition partly read: "Sir, our client is the immediate younger brother of the slain Igwe of Oruku Autonomous Community HRH Igwe Chidiebere Emmanuel Mbah who was brutally murdered by Inspector Daniel Denis of Special Tactical Squad (STS) on the 26 day of December 2020 at the Oruku Community hall where the late Igwe was addressing his subjects following a petition written to the police by Moses Nnamani.

"Pursuant to the killing of late lgwe Chidiebere Emmanuel Mbah aforesaid, there was a serious pandemonium in the entire community that is yet to settle down till date which led the police authority to arrest and detain Inspector Daniel Denis who confessed to pulling the trigger that silenced the Late Igwe.

"Sir, following the arrest and the subsequent detention of the trigger-happy inspector Daniel Denis aforesaid, the men of the police from (FIB) Force Intelligence Unit had since been on the trail of Moses Nnaman, the man that sponsored the police team from Abuja to Oruku Autonomous Community Town hall in Enugu State following the deployment of their inescapable, incisive, precision and eagle-eyed cracked team that discovered in their course of investigation that, the said petitioner transferred some monies to Inspector Daniel Denis shortly before and after the shooting to death of the Igwe.

"Sir, we are aware that the DIG (FIB) of the Nigeria Police in the course of their investigation, ordered that Inspector Daniel Denis be transferred to the office of the Force Provost Marshall for Orderly Room trial and that Inspector Daniel Denis was indeed subsequently transferred to the Force Provost Marshal for the said Orderly Room trial in line with the directive of the DIG (FIB) but sadly, the outcome of the Orderly Room trial by the office of the Force Provost Marshall we are not in the know till date."

It added, "Our client had consistently followed up with the police to see that justice is served to all that are involved in the killing of his elder brother.

"We are again aware that the gallant men of the Force Intelligent Unit of the Nigeria Police had again succeeded in apprehending the fleeing Moses Nnamani on the 23rd day of August 2023.

"We had in time past on the instruction of our client written to the Inspector General of the Police to ensure that all that is involved in the murder of HRH Igwe Chidiebere Emmanuel Mbah on the 26th day of December 2020 are made to face trial so that justice can be served.

"We must respectfully seek your intervention to prevail on the Inspector General of Police and the Police Force Marshall to speed up the trial of Inspector Daniel Denis and all his collaborators.

"We shall equally appreciate if Inspector Daniel Denis and Moses Nnamani are both transferred to Enugu to face their trial. We shall be very grateful for your timeous positive intervention."
