Governor Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18th governorship election in the state was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday affirmed the election of Governor Bala Mohammed, as it delivered judgment on the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.).

Governor Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18th governorship election in the state was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, the APC and its candidate, former Chief of Air Staff, filed a petition before the tribunal challenging his election.

On Wednesday, the tribunal in a judgment delivered by a three-man panel chaired by Justice P.T Kwahar, dismissed the petition and held that there was no strong reason to nullify the election as the election was conducted in compliance with the extant law.

All eyes are also on Kano State as the election tribunal is ongoing in its ruling.

It had been reported earlier that the Kano governorship election tribunal's judges were not physically present in court on Wednesday morning and are delivering the ruling virtually.

The tribunal is ruling on the case filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to overturn the victory of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP).

Journalists, lawyers, party members, and others have also been barred from entering the courtroom.
