Don’t Abandon Mohbad’s Case Like Our Daughter’s – Family Of Bamise Allegedly Killed By BRT Driver Warns Lagos State Government
September 25, 2023

Bamise went missing after she boarded a BRT vehicle from Chevron Bus Stop, Ajah to Oshodi around 7pm on February 26.

The family of Oluwabamise Ayanwola, a 22-year-old lady who was declared missing on February 26, 2022, after boarding a Bus Rapid Transit vehicle (BRT) from the Ajah area of Lagos to Oshodi and whose body was later found by the police, has asked the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State government to ensure that the late musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad gets justice.

Bamise’s elder sister, Ayanwola Oluwadamilola, who spoke with SaharaReporters on Monday as controversies over Mohbad’s death, protest and demand for justice over his death continued to ring loud within and outside Nigeria, said that the Lagos State government must not abandon Mohbad’s case as it had allegedly abandoned Bamise’s case.

Bamise went missing after she boarded a BRT vehicle from Chevron Bus Stop, Ajah to Oshodi around 7pm on February 26.

During the journey, the fashion designer was said to have observed that the driver was not picking up other passengers at subsequent bus stops along the route.

Disturbed, she messaged her friend and sent voice notes detailing her predicament. It was the last time her friend and family members heard from her and she was later declared missing. She was later found dead on Carter Bridge, according to the Lagos State Police Command.

On Monday, Oluwadamilola told SaharaReporters that her sister’s case was getting to two years and though the case was in court, the Lagos State government had abandoned the case, noting that there was supposed to be court sitting on the case on September 21, 2023, but the defence counsel was not in court, hence, the case was stalled, stressing that that had remained the nature of the case since 2022.

She said, “It is a pity that the young ones who are talented are dying at their tender age with their God-given talents and at the age that their glory ought to start shining. Justice has to be done. The Lagos State government must make sure justice is served for Imole (Mohbad).

“Everyone in charge of this case, I mean everyone that has a hand in his death must be brought to book. They shouldn't do them like they did to my sister Ayanwola Oluwabamise’s case. It is going to two years since my sister was forcefully raped and murdered.

“Justice must be served. The Lagos State government has really failed. They failed all the ladies, they failed all the mothers, they failed all the fathers because all those that have a hand in my sister's death have not been brought to book yet.

“If not because we, the family of late Bamise, were God-fearing people, things would have happened during that. We want justice for Imole and Bamise.”
