Troops Of Nigerian Army Arrest 13 Suspected Kidnappers, Recover About 300 Stolen Cows

The spokesperson of OPSH, Captain James Oya, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Jos, Plateau State capital said that the troops also recovered arms and ammunition from the suspects.

The Nigerian Army has said that its troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), maintaining peace in Plateau, Kaduna and Bauchi States, have arrested 13 suspects for alleged kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and other criminal offenses.

The spokesperson of OPSH, Captain James Oya, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Jos, Plateau State capital said that the troops also recovered arms and ammunition from the suspects.

Oya also said that the troops also recovered a total of 279 cows and six sheep over destruction of crops on farmlands across Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom and Zango Kataf local government areas of Plateau and Kaduna states.

According to Oya, the suspects were arrested during an operation conducted by the OPSH troops between Monday October 2 and Monday October 9, adding that the suspects were arrested in some communities within its areas of operations.

Oya stated that “Between October  2 and October 9, our troops arrested 13 criminal suspects in connection with kidnapping, prison break, peddling illicit drugs and rustling.

“We also recovered illegal arms and ammunition.

“Troops recovered a total of 279 cows and six sheep over destruction of crops on farmlands across Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom and Zango Kataf Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Plateau and Kaduna states, respectively.”

He stated that within the period under review, its troops also foiled attempts by gunmen to attack Washina and Razak communities in Mangu and Barkin Ladi local government areas of Plateau.

Oya therefore called on the residents in the areas to support the efforts of the Nigerian Army towards cracking down on crime and criminality, urging them to be law abiding at all times, as he assured the residents that OPSH would continue to be fair and just to all, stressing that OPSH’s duty is to secure the lives and properties of law-abiding citizens.
