Gobir said it was just a sacrifice as there was nothing in the treasury when they took over about five months ago.

The Governor Ahmed Aliyu-led Sokoto State government has said it inherited an empty treasury and no single note was handed over to them by the last administration of Aminu Tambuwal.

This was disclosed by the state deputy governor, Engineer Idris Gobir while responding to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who asked how the government was able to execute 100 projects in his first 100 days in office during a condolence visit to the state on Thursday.

Gobir said it was just a sacrifice as there was nothing in the treasury when they took over about five months ago.

“We inherited an empty Treasury and nothing to show, not a single paper was handed over to us. We made sacrifice to change the narrative of the state and we have succeeded in changing it within the last 100 days,” he was quoted by Daily Trust.

He described the relationship between the state administration and the legislature as amicable, claiming that it was cultivated by the state's current All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Senator Aliyu Wamakko.

Aliyu, on the other hand, praised the leadership of the green chamber for sending a formidable delegation to condole with the government and people of the state on the death of their colleague and member, Jelani Danbuga, who represented Isa-Sabon Birni Federal Constituency.

He hailed the late legislator as patriotic and a true gentleman.

Kanu had previously stated that they were amused by the amount of projects completed by the state administration, remarking that it was joy to see leadership at the state level have a beneficial influence on the lives of the people.

He claimed that they were in Sokoto to express their condolences to the people of the state following the death of a colleague who believed in the country's unity and growth.
