Lagos Government Vows To Prosecute Lekki Club Workers For ‘Brutalising LASEPA Officials’

Lagos State government has vowed to prosecute all the employees of 10 POTS Night Club for brutalising officials who had earlier sealed the premises for environmental infractions.

 

No fewer than 11 employees of 10 POTS Night Club, 2 Admiralty Way, Lekki who allegedly assaulted the state officials and also broke the seal of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the property owners were earlier arrested by the state government.

 

The 11 employees arrested were four males and seven females. They allegedly removed the LASEPA seal which was used to secure the premises between 11.11 a.m. and 11.33 a.m. on Saturday, October 14 following enforcement activities.

 

When LASEPA personnel returned to the club by 12.44 p.m., it had been reopened and was back to business.

 

Attempts to reseal the premises were violently resisted by the staffers, who allegedly inflicted injuries on state officials, necessitating the call for security reinforcement.

 

However, the State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab while speaking on Sunday following the arrest, stated that all the suspects would be arraigned before appropriate courts of law on Monday.

 

He explained that the property owner would also be arraigned to serve as a deterrent to others who might consider embracing such illegal options.

 

On Saturday, October 7, the state government also sealed a popular nightclub in the state over noise pollution.
