Atiku and the PDP had hoped to file fresh evidence that Tinubu forged his Chicago State University certificate due to discrepancies in his records.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu has urged Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to congratulate the President following Thursday’s Supreme Court judgment.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Thursday affirmed the election of President Tinubu, in the February 25 presidential election.

The apex court affirmed Tinubu’s victory after it dismissed the appeals filed by the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively and the parties.

The appellants had filed the appeals to challenge the dismissal of the petitions by the Presidential Election Petition Court on September 6.

The apex court also told Atiku that the 180 days allowed for fresh evidence is immutable.

It said the appellants failed to file fresh documents they later claimed they had within the 180 days provided by law for the hearing at the lower court.

Atiku and the PDP had hoped to file fresh evidence that Tinubu forged his Chicago State University certificate due to discrepancies in his records.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Onanuga said, “Supreme Court has spoken: Atiku’s so-called new Evidence runs foul of the Electoral Act and the constitution. It’s all over for the PDP presidential candidate.

“The Waziri should write his long delayed congratulatory message to his old friend.”

In another tweet, Onanuga said, “Breaking: Supreme Court affirms President Tinubu’s victory. It’s a victory for Nigeria and the rule of law. All the parties are winners. No victor, no vanquished. Politics is over.”
