NEMA said the incident occurred at around 4 p.m. on Thursday when a boat carrying about 20 passengers capsized at Garin Alhaji community, Gurin in the Fufore Local Government Area of the state.

 

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said its officials recovered six bodies from a boat accident that occurred in Adamawa State.

 

NEMA said the incident occurred at around 4 p.m. on Thursday when a boat carrying about 20 passengers capsized at Garin Alhaji community, Gurin in the Fufore Local Government Area of the state.

 

The emergency management body said that a search team comprising Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Marine Police, and community volunteers, recovered the bodies and were still searching for the rest of the victims.

 

“NEMA Yola Operations office received reports of another boat mishap carrying a yet to be identified number of passengers.

 

“The incident which took place yesterday around 4pm has about 20 passengers on board. So far 6 bodies have been recovered by search and rescue teams mobilised during the incident. Stakeholders mobilised include ADSEMA, Marine Police and community volunteers,” NEMA stated on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.
