The labour leaders were led by TUC President, Festus Osifo and NLC Secretary General, Emmanuel Ugboaja. 

The Nigerian government through the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has invited leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria for a meeting in Abuja over the ongoing nationwide strike by Organised Labour. 

It was learnt that the meeting, slated for Wednesday afternoon, also had the Minister of Labour, Simon Lalong, and Minister of state for Labour, Nkeiruka Onyeajocha in attendance. 

The labour leaders were led by TUC President, Festus Osifo and NLC Secretary General, Emmanuel Ugboaja. 

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) released six demands as a condition to consider calling off the ongoing nationwide strike over the brutal attack on its National President, Joe Ajaero and other national leaders in Owerri, Imo State capital.

The NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) commenced a nationwide strike on Tuesday over the police and thugs attack on Ajaero at the NLC state secretariat in Owerri at the before the governorship election in the state.

On Tuesday night, NLC made six demands which include, arrest and prosecution of Mr. Chinasa Nwaneri, the Special Adviser on Special Duties to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who according to the labour union, led the attack against workers on November 7 when Ajaero was attacked.

  

The NLC also demanded the arrest, prosecution and dismissal of all the police officers who were involved in the attack and brutalisation of Ajaero and workers in Imo State; arrest and prosecution of all the thugs who attacked Ajaero in the state.

Other demands are, arrest, prosecution and dismissal of the Chief Security Officer of Imo State Government House, SP Shaba, who according to NLC, led, participated and provided cover for thugs to brutalise workers in Imo state.

Arrest, prosecution and dismissal of the Police Area Commander who according to NLC, led the brutalisation of its national President and other workers in the state, and investigation and prosecution of the former Imo state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Barde.
