Hassan was reported to have reduced her husband's house to ashes, after accusing him of reneging on a divorce deal reached before the marriage was contracted.

According to her, "I was forced into the marriage, and before the wedding, we agreed that he would divorce me after two to three weeks into the marriage; but he reneged on the agreement.

"I had initially agreed to the marriage, but weeks to the wedding day, I told my parents I was no longer interested and explained why.

"Of course I don't love him and he knows that. My parents too know that I don't love him, yet I was forced to marry him," she explained.

The Adamawa State Police Command has since arrested Hassan, as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed to SaharaReporters on Thursday that Hassan had been taken into custody for the alleged crime.
